Buy standard full expansion foam for large holes. If you truly seal it off to the slab you will have rot mold mildew problems down the road.
Keep Mice Out For Good
The 1 overlooked area where mice enter structures is where air conditioning conduit enters the home.
How to seal siding from mice. Use expanding foam for any size gap or crack in your siding. Attach screens to pipe openings pipes that vent to the outside should have screens over them to keep mice from crawling inside. The putty that is placed around the conduit deteriorates over time leaving a perfect runway into your home.
Use foam and a sealant to properly seal these areas. Be sure to fill in the holes completely to keep the rodents from squeezing past the caulk. Keep your home clutter free to avoid attracting mice.
Buy mesh small enough to keep mice out but that allows for proper air flow through the vent. 1 ridge guard a metal product developed in 2016 to secure ridge vents from mice. Clutter provides places for mice to hide and reproduce.
Store boxes off the floor in your basement or garage. Sealing up the holes will temporarily keep new mice out of your home until you repair your siding. If you feel comfortable doing so repair any mouse holes you find beneath the siding with caulk.
The siding is supposed to be open enough at the bottom for moisture and any water to escape. As shown in this picture caulk was used to seal the gap. 2 xcluder a fill fabric made of stainless steel and poly that can be stuffed into construction gaps to keep mice out.
The bottom siding board is about 1 1 2 in from foundation wall and i stick a tape measure up 2 1 2 in between foundation wall and back of siding. Mice can chew through caulk. You can easily spot mouse droppings this way.
I would like to seal this hollow cavity under the bottom siding board as i have seen mice run up into the cavity and believe this may be a major entry point. 3 sealant make sure your home is thoroughly caulked. Use caulk to hold the steel wool in place so the mice can t pull the wool out and squeeze past.
